Welcome to the official website of The Institute of Pet Behaviour Consultants. We offer courses in canine, feline and parrot behaviour. These courses have been devised, set up and priced in such a way as to try to make them available to all.

Yes, there are other courses available but they are either a lot more expensive than those offered by the Institute, or to qualify for membership, one must have a degree in biology, zoology or some other subject. Although the degree may not be relevant to animal behaviour at all, this seems to imply that persons with a degree make better behaviourists than those without. Although this may be true in some cases, where the academic skill is coupled with the other skills necessary to be a good behaviour counsellor, the Institute feels it is not usually the case.

We feel that it is more important that they have a sound knowledge of both human & animal behaviour and psychology, good training skills and more importantly, the ability to teach by example how to practically execute their advice.

This is what we hope you will learn from our courses. Now because the institute courses are sensibly priced does not mean that they are in any way inferior to the other courses available. They are in fact very in-depth and fully researched in every way and as far as we know are still the only canine behavioural course offering a hands-on practical assessment (under the supervision of practicing behaviourist) as part of the course.
